The staff of the administration/central services department sees to it that all internal and external services of the German Wine Institute run smoothly - from telecommunication to monetary transactions or accounting, as well as management of the institute's wine cellars.
Initial telephone contact with the wine institute is handled by Helga Simmons-Bilgin. She is in charge of the switchboard and ensures that all calls are forwarded to the appropriate person and/or department.Written contact with the wine institute is handled by Horst Kielburger. He is in charge of incoming and outgoing mail (letters as well as packages).
Behind the scenes, the staff sees to it that debits and credits are balanced. Jens Schneider, director of the department, is responsible for the budget; assigning and monitoring external audits; and handling personnel matters.
He is assisted by Stanislava Dikova, deputy director and head of the financial section. She prepares budgets, draws up balances, and deals with matters concerning information technology.
Florian Schmitt and Walter Härtel are “traveling auditors,” who personally ensure that contributions to the German Wine Fund have been duly paid (according to §43 of the German wine law).
Barbara Nietzold registers contributions by wine-growers and commercial wineries; monitors collection proceedings; handles filing; and compiles statistics.
Helene Gebhard and Olesja Lagonskaja are responsible for all bookkeeping tasks. They monitor accounts; prepare monthly and annual statements of accounts; and handle all monetary transactions.
The wine procurement section, headed by Andreas Kaul, sees to it that the wine institute’s cellars are continually stocked with a representative range of German wines for the wine institute’s many events, trade fairs and seminars at home and abroad. Together with Gudrun Brauer, he maintains an overview of which German wines are available nationwide; purchases accordingly; sees that the wines are properly stored; and makes certain that wine samples arrive at the right place in a timely manner. This section also organizes large tastings in order to select wines for special events – all wine producers are welcome to submit samples.
