The hospitality industry, specialty trade and grocery trade are important partners with whom the German Wine Institute will pursue new paths in order to heighten awareness of the quality and special nature of German wines.
The department for Wine Trade and Hospitality Industry is headed by Monika Reule, who continuously develops new concepts for cooperation with these important target groups. She is actively assisted by Susanne Becker, who coordinates and oversees all appointments and projects. In 2008, domestic activities are concentrated in key media centers – Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin – as outlined in the “Strategy for the Generic Marketing of German Wine 2008-2012.” Activities at home and abroad are to be systematically expanded in the future.
The training and seminars offered by the wine institute are an important cornerstone of working with the market in this area. The education section, headed by Claudia Krauss, offers a very diverse range of seminars. With the assistance of Kirstin Denzer, two external seminar leaders, as well as Helga Lier-Bernsee and Erika Neumann, some 200 seminars and vocational training programs (basic and advanced) are conducted annually for specialists and managers in the wine trade and hospitality industry.
