The German Wine Institute (DWI) announced the winners of its "Outstanding Vinotheks 2021" competition in Ingelheim on September 29th.

The new German winequeen is called Sina Erdrich and comes from Baden. In an exciting two-hour final, the 24-year-old prevailed against her five competitors. As German wine princesses, Saskia Teucke from the Pfalz region and Linda Trarbach from the Ahr region are at her side.

The World's Best Vineyards 2021 were announced at Schloss Johannisberg in Germany's Rheingau region. Two German wine estates made it onto the global list: Schloss Johannisberg itself and Weingut Dr. Loosen in the Mosel region.

After an exciting preliminary decision, Saskia Teucke (Palatinate), Valerie Gorgus (Rheingau), Henrike Heinicke (Württemberg), Marie Jostock (Mosel), Sina Erdrich (Baden) and Linda Trarbach (Ahr) reached the finals of the election of the 73rd German Wine Queen!

In mid-September, after a two-year pandemic break, the Riesling, Pinot & Co table presentation was held again in the Netherlands. It took place for the first time in the train museum of Utrecht and enthused some 300 visitors to embark on a journey to German wines (see photos).

The first winemakers in many German wine regions are starting their grape harvest for the production of sparkling and still wines.
