The statistics were measured in a study by the German Wine Institute (DWI) ahead of the ProWein trade fair. The data was collected as part of the GfK Wine Market Analysis, which the DWI commissions each year from the market consulting specialists.

Average price of German wine exports at a record high

Last year, consumers abroad spent on average more for German wine than ever before. As the German Wine Institute (DWI) reports, the average price for a litre of exported wine in 2018 rose by 15 cents to 3,04 € (prime cost), breaking for the first time the three euro mark. In comparison with the year 2002, for example, it has exactly doubled.

Scandinavia: German wine sales continue to rise

2018 saw another increase in sales of German wines in Scandinavia’s alcohol monopolies in Finland, Sweden and Norway. Together with Denmark, these countries have become the second most important destination for German wine exports, behind the United States but well ahead of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
