100 days in office: Germany's Wine Ambassadores score
After that, the young woman's life had completely changed from one day to the next. It took some time before she really realized this change, the educational scientist admits. Sina put her master's thesis on hold for the duration of her term of office.
On the first day after the final, she was greeted by a large reception in her home town, followed by numerous press, television and radio appearances - all in the first week. Her first "official" measure was to award Germany's 30 "Excellent Wine Bars 2021" on behalf of The German Wine Institute (DWI).
Numerous face-to-face appointments in the first few months
Then, at the invitation of the Consulate General, they went on their first trip abroad to Gdansk. In contrast to her predecessor in office, Eva Lanzerath, who was only able to attend a few appointments during her term of office due to the corona pandemic, Sina's calendar was well filled in the first 100 days of office.
Whether at the special merchant awards by DWI in Heilbronn, the 'rosé awards' as part of the DLG Awards 2021 in Mainz, the DLG Honors ceremony in Ingelheim, the presentation of German wines and sparkling wines at 'Eat & Style' in Munich or with her speech on the subject of sustainability at the parliamentary evening of the German Viticulture Association - the woman from Baden is happy and grateful that she has been able to attend many appointments so far, and, together with Saskia Teucke and Linda Trarbach, have been able to stand up for the industry and the wine country Germany.
Triumvirate for the wine industry
The two German Wine Princesses can also look back on some highlights during their 100-days-in-office. Saskia Teucke not only trained young diplomats in the Foreign Office in Berlin - she also presented all 13 wine growing regions and highllighted respective and typical grape varieties. Furhtermore, she inspired consumers at 'Eat & Style' in Hamburg to enjoy new German wine styles as well as thriving Sekt brands (sparkling wines).
Linda Trarbach, together with the Rhineland-Palatinate (RLP) Minister of Economic Affairs, Daniela Schmitt, presented the honorary prizes for excellent sparkling wines and wines and at the respective event - in cooperation with the RLP Chamber of Agriculture that promotes young people in agricultural professions.
New social media concepts for new target groups
In December 2021, which was a little quieter due to the pandemic, all three ambassadors dealt extensively with the social media channels, developed concepts, planned contributions in the vineyard and cellar, produced photos of wine & food combinations and podcasts.
Sina, Saskia and Linda can't wait to start their tour of Germany starting in February with the Nahe, Saale-Unstrut and Saxonian wine growing regions. But even if the trips have to be postponed, the wine ambassadors remain optimistic: "We always make the best of the given situation".
