Camping: Travelling Germany's 13 wine regions in 13 days
The German Wine Institute (Wines of Germany) launched the wine camping tour together with the outdoor travel expert "roadsurfer" to show how well Germany's wineries and wine cooperatives have already adapted to the growing trend towards individual camper holidays.
Tour finale with Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir
On their tour (program, pdf) the wine majesty will camp at roadsufer spots, which also include numerous wineries. On site, they visit one of the most beautiful wine views and excellent vinotheques in each region, which have been awarded by the DWI, as well as a highlight of wine culture. After the start in Ingelheim in Rhenish Hesse and a further 12 stops, the road trip ends with a visit to Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir in Berlin on August 22nd.
Camping spots at individual wineries
“With this tour, we also want to encourage all motorhome tourists to 'experience' our scenic wine landscapes and show them wine tourism highlights. Thanks to the numerous individual parking spaces at the wine producers, you can also get to know and enjoy the regional wines on site without any worries," DWI Managing Director Monika Reule explains.
Dr. Susanne Dickhardt, co-founder and managing partner of roadsurfer is looking forward to further expanding the infrastructure for wine camping in the 13 German wine regions together with the German Wine Institute: "Wine camping is a great opportunity for an unforgettable road trip with the camper. Already 20 percent of the private parking spaces listed with us are wineries and wine views," emphasized Dickhardt.
Absolute Premiere
The three wine ambassadors are already very excited about their tour: “Touring all 13 German wine-growing regions in 13 days with a campervan is an absolute premiere. It will certainly be a very special experience,” the three exceptional wine experts state.
