Since 2016, the annual "Top50 German Wines" competition, organized by  the Wines of Germany China Office has been held. In 2022, it was held for the first time in cooperation with the influential wine competition "Interwine Grand Challenge" in Guangdong, southern China. In July, the competition ended with the following results: four double gold, 33 gold, 43 silver and 62 bronze medals.

“This high win rate reflects the broad acceptance of German wines in various price segments. The quality of German wines from the 2019 and 2020 vintages ultimately prevailed in the competition in China. In addition, many local boutique wine importers have contributed to support the competition", commented Tan Wu from Wines of Germany China. After the final evaluation by the IGC jury, 61 wines were awarded fto be included either in the "TOP50 German Wines 2022" or the "TOP10 German Pinot Noir 2022". In the overall competition, German wines received the following awards: nine x double gold, 87 x gold and 7 x silver. The winners include not only Rieslings of different styles, but also other grape varieties such as Pinot Gris, Silvaner, Gewürztraminer and Elbling.
