German Wine Queen Carolin at Riesling Weeks in Hong Kong
The Riesling weeks with their numerous wine tastings in Hong Kong take place for the seventh time now - making winelovers in Hong Kong more aware of the outstanding qualities of German wines. There are numerous wine tastings in various locations, sometimes with, sometimes without food pairing, but always with great enjoyment of the products from the 13 German winegrowing areas. Venues are mainly restaurants and wine shops, but also public venues, such as the "Café de Paris".
Interview with Macao Daily News
The German Wine Queen Carolin Klöckner hosted the kick-off tasting of the Riesling Weeks on May 31 at the Harbor View Hotel and accompanied other events around the beginning of the Riesling Weeks. She also gave an interview to the Macao Daily News. She explained why German wine is a perfect food companion, how it differs from products of other countries, and which marketing strategies are particularly successful for exporting to China.
Meeting with top sommelier
One highlight for Carolin Klöckner was the meeting with the Chinese top sommelier Yohann Jousselin: "It was extremely interesting to talk about current trends and to discuss whether they could also be implemented in the Chinese market", Carolin said. Finally, the German Wine Queen gave students of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong a comprehensive overview of climatic conditions, variety of vines and modern and innovative methods of wine production in Germany.
