The Netherlands celebrate "Riesling, Pinot & Co"

With 400 expert visitors from trade, gastronomy and the media, the 19th "Riesling, Pinot & Co" fair in the Netherlands was very well attended. Numerous sommeliers took the opportunity to taste German wines selections from over 40 exhibitors.

 


Meeting of wine producers and importers

The master classes on sustainability, held by Romana Echensperger (Master of Wine) and Dr. Ludwig Pasch (Institute for Oenology at Hochschule Geisenheim University), was followed by over 130 trade visitors. A total of 400 interested guests then embarked on the "journey through the German wine-growing regions": In the Railway Museum in Utrecht, 45 German producers and Dutch importers presented their wines and sparkling wines between the railway carriages and locomotives on display. Sponsors such as Madam Paté, Bourgondisch Lifestyle and Arditi Espresso provided the necessary provisions.

Masterclass: responsible use of natural resources

In her master class, Romana Echensperger (MW) led the guests through the history of viticulture and wine culture. By tasting organic, biodynamic and sustainably produced wines (Fair'n Green, CO2-neutral and PiWi), she illustrated in an exemplary manner that the future of German viticulture lies in the responsible use of natural resources and that all three approaches together can pave the way to can point to a green future for viticulture.

Care of the vines adapted to the course of the year

Ludwig Pasch (HSG) showed the various ways in which Riesling and Pinot Noir can cope with climate change in Germany. Using various Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, he explained how the care of the vines adapted to the course of the year: The planting at different altitudes and the choice of the harvest time have a positive effect on quality and yields.

The conclusion of the guests was very positive: "The Railway Museum in Utrecht is really a fantastic place to organize such an event", Peter van Houtert (Director Verbunt Verlinden) praised the location. "What I really liked was the attention to the sweet wines, which I think are becoming increasingly important," he added.

Largest German wine fair in the Netherlands

"The largest German wine fair outside Germany was worth a visit again this year," said Lars Daniels (editor Perswijn). "Instructive master classes and exciting wines make 'Riesling, Pinot & Co.' a wonderful platform for German wine."

The exhibitors were also satisfied with the course and result of the event. They praised the consistently good communication with the interested audience, who held German wines in high esteem.
