The Riesling Fellowship was proud to be joined last night by top German Riesling producers and members of the UK and international trade for a gala dinner at Vintners’ Hall in London. This year’s winners are Paul Grieco, New York, USA and Albert de Jong, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, recognised for their dedication and passion for German Riesling.

Individual winegrowers as well as cooperatives and associations from Germany presented their wines from january 11.-13th 2016 at the 'Wine Professional Amsterdam'. Dutch experts from trade and gastronomy joined the fair and were delighted by the wine qualities of the following exhibitors:

Within the specialized international fair "Intervitis-Interfructa-Hortitechnica" the German Winegrowers’ Association (DWV) organizes the 62nd German Winegrowers’ Congress and calls for papers. The fair will take place in Stuttgart, Germany, from november 27th to 30th 2016. Proposals shall be attended until end of march.

The wait for the deep freeze was worth it after all. As the German Wine Institute (DWI) announced, on the 18 and 19 January many estates in almost all German wine growing regions were able to harvest grapes (mainly Riesling, Silvaner and Pinot Noir) for the production of Eiswein or ice wine.

The Danish office of “Wines of Germany” in Copenhagen came under new management after nine years in January 2016. In a Europe-wide call for tenders, the agency Ehrenberg Kommunikation prevailed with creative concepts against a strong field of competitors.

US-journalist Adam Graham recommends to visit Germany's Mosel wine country - mother land of fine riesling wines - in his latest New York Times publication. The NYT narrowed down the world's top destinations to 52 places to see in the year of 2016.

Norway's alcohol monopoly "Vinmonopolet" has published its statistics for 2015. And the market leader in the white wine segment is - again - Germany! 30.1 % of all white wines sold by Vinmonopolet in Norway come from Germany.

Shortly before her party congress december 14/15th in Karlsruhe, Germany's chancellor Angela Merkel visited reknowned restaurant "garbo" to enjoy Generation Riesling wines created by young vintner Christian Estelmann from Eugen Wambsganß winery in Landau, Palatinate.

The leading Swedish wine magazine "Allt om Vin" has chosen two German wines as best of 2015: From 4000 wines which are available on the Swedish market, the jury chose a Sylvaner from Franconia at number 1 and a Rheingau Riesling place 2 in the category "Dry White Wines".

As the 2015 harvest drew to a close, winegrowers were already singing unusually effusive words of praise. A survey by the German Wine Institute (DWI) found that all German growing regions are reporting top quality yields.
