As the 2015 harvest drew to a close, winegrowers were already singing unusually effusive words of praise. A survey by the German Wine Institute (DWI) found that all German growing regions are reporting top quality yields.

This year, Wine Enthusiast’s tasting panel reviewed more than 19.800 wines from around the globe spanning Old World and New World wine regions alike. Edeltraud und Hanspeter Ziereisen reached 11th place with a 2010 Pinot Noir from Germany's southwestern region of "Baden".

More and more winelovers worldwide fancy high quality mulled wine from Germany. A growing number of producers create this hot drink with white as well as red wines. It is produced by individual vintners as well as cellars and available in many supermarkets.

Josefine Schlumberger (21) from Laufen in the Baden region was elected 67th German wine queen. She will be supported by Katharina Fladung from the wine growing Rheingau-region as well as Caroline Guthier from the region of Hessische Bergstraße, both German wine princesses.

During the last couple of days, most of Germany's wine-growing areas started their major grape harvest for the wine production of such grape varieties as Müller-Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc, or the white Pinot varieties.

The new site bundles all relevant information about the position, its duties, the wine 'kingdoms' and the vote itself into a bright and highly visual package.
