The table presentation was accompanied by three seminars on the topics of Riesling, Burgundy and typical German grape varieties. In each of which some 50 professional participants learned more about German wines. The intense day ended with a networking party in the Dorchester Hall of the adjacent Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Top30 German Wines in Russia

One hightlight of the 'German Wine Day' was the announcement and honoring of the winners of the Top30 wine competition in Russia. Importers had previously submitted German wines that are available on the Russian market for this wine competition among German products. On January 16, 2020, a jury of 15 experts selected the winners, two of whom also took part in the German Wine Day.

Some 300 trade visitors were very interested in the German Wine Day, the feedback was very positive. "The success of a table presentation is not immediately measurable," explains Manuela Liebchen, international consultant for the German Wine Institute. "The market entry isn't easy, especially for smaller wine producers. Additionally, the Russian wine market is currently undergoing structural changes."
