Increasing interest for Wines of Germany in China and Hongkong
Therefore, wine makers and importers drew a very positive conclusion of the respective events:
Prowine Asia 2017, Hongkong May 8th-11th Mai
Eleven vintners from Germany presented their wines at ProWein Asia in HongKong at the 'Wines of Germany' stand. Four additional German exibitors took part at the "Hofex"-stand of VDP-winemakers (Germany's predicat wine estates), a fair that took place simultaniously. Another German vintner joined the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture's (BMEL) stand. The VDP organised a wine seminar with wine expert Rachel Wang on top which was fully booked by some 90 participants. The Prowine Asia hosted some 12.000 trade- and business professionals from 67 countries in the first 4 days only!
TopWine China 2017, Peking May 22nd -24th
After a pause of one year 'Wines of Germany' (i.e. German Wine Institute DWI) took 16 vinterns along to showcase their diversified wine range at TopWine in Peking. The seminar "Treasures of German Wine - Riesling & Spätburgunder" enthused Ian Dai, wine buyer for Amazon China and certified wine academic for German wines as well as some 90 additional trade- and business professionals. Riesling & Co. in Chengdu (May 24th) and in Guangzhou (May 27th)
"Riesling & Co." was the slogan of an initial invitation to importers and German wine makers alike, to team up at several wine locations in China. 14 exibitors from Germany showcased their wines in Chengdu third most popular city in China with some 10 Millionen inhabitants being the capital city of the Sichuan-province. More than 200 trade- and business professionals met at the Grand Hyatt Hotel to taste a fine selection of wines from the 13 wine growing regions of Germany.
Wine expert Rachel Wang welcomed some 45 participants who were interested in an introductory seminar learning about the diversity of Germany's grape varieties and wines. Off dry and low in alcohol levels they are well suited to match hot and spicy dishes (z.B. Hot Pot) of many kinds and meet demands of Asian markets.
In Guangzhou, the metropoly of the "Perlriverdelta" in the southeast of China, some 17 wine exibitors from Germany got in touch with 300 trade- and business professionals in the Shangri-la Hotel, 80 of which took part in the introductory 'Wines of Germany'-seminar.
