Great Wine Capital Mainz: Best of Wine Tourism-Awards 2020

Which companies or initiatives stand out for their special wine tourism offers? A specialist jury discussed this question in the Great Wine Capital Mainz and found the Rheinhessen Prize winners in seven categories of the Best Of Wine Tourism Awards 2020. At the end of September these will be awarded.


"Applicants for the Best Of Wine Tourism Awards surprise the jury again and again with their innovative ideas," states jury chairman Ernst Walter Görisch, district administrator in the district of Alzey-Worms. "Winegrowers bring people closer to the topic of wine in a creative way, initiatives come together and accommodations offer their guests original wine experiences."

These are the winners of 2020 in the seven categories:

Weintourismus-Service: Ernst Bretz Winery, Bechtolsheim, Rheinhessen
The winery offers a very dedicated and professional service around the wine.

Innovative WineTourism-Adventures: "Wine-Truck", Nierstein, Rheinhessen
Recognized advisors of German wine present an overarching wine selection of various Nierstein winemakers. In the middle of the vineyard - or where the wine truck is needed.

Wine-Gastronomy: "Weingold"-Country-Hotel , Guntersblum, Rheinhessen
The country hotel is located on the 400-year-old estate in the middle of the village. In addition to dishes with regional and seasonal products, guests will also find a varied wine list with selected wines from local winemakers.

Accomodation: Jordan’s Untermühle (Mill), Köngernheim, Rheinhessen
Jordan's Untermühle, after its expansion in 2018, marks a new milestone for the hotel industry in the region. Built on a watermill, this four-star hotel has 48 hotel rooms and a 1,000 m² "Herz & Rebe" wellness area.

Architecture, Parks & Gardens: Winzerkeller Ingelheim (vinter's cellar)
