Introducing Germany's young winegrowers in Tokyo
More than 150 importers, sommeliers and media representatives were enthusiastic about the quality of the wines and the modern equipment of the young winemakers. Due to the many registrations, the visitors tasted the selected wines in two shifts, before all gathered for the evening generation Riesling party on the deck of the ship.
Introducing young winegrowers with their innovative wine concepts
"The traditional German wines are still more familiar in the Japanese market," says Ulrike Lenhardt, marketing manager of the DWI for Japan. "With this presentation we introduce the young winegrower generation with their innovative wine concepts, great equipment and not least their personalities to the Japanese experts. Especially in Tokyo there is an urban market with many new wine bars and elegantly innovative restaurants. "
Japan ranks fifth in the export statistics of German wines, making it the second most important market in Asia behind China. Due to the free trade agreement concluded with the EU in February 2019, exporters hope for an increase in export figures.
