Mondial des Pinots 2020: Eleven gold medals for German Pinot

For the 23rd edition of the international Mondial des Pinots competition in Switzerland, to which only white and red Pinot wines are allowed, 350 wine producers from 20 countries submitted over 1,100 wines. German Pinots have been awarded a gold medal eleven times and a silver medal 19 times.


Three Pinot Noir (Dalsheimer Bürgel 2017, 2016 and "S" 2016) from Geils Sekt- und Weingut (Rheinhessen) won a gold medal in Sierre. The family business from Wonnegau was the most successful German participant in this year's competition.

Two Baden wine cooperatives each received two gold medals: the Winzergenossenschaft Jechtingen-Amoltern am Kaiserstuhl eG for Jechtinger Eichert Spätburgunder Rotwein Spätlese dry ‚Burg Sponeck Selektion‘ 2018 and Jechtinger Eichert Grauer Burgunder Spätlese dry 2019 and the winery Hexburg vom Dasenstein eG for Villa Heynburg Spätburgunder Reserve 2018 as well as Weißburgunder Heidenhöfe Großes Gewächs 2019. The Winzergenossenschaft Bötzingen eG, also based in Kaiserstuhl, won gold with Weißer Burgunder Eiswein Barrique 2016, the Felsengartenkellerei Besigheim eG (Württemberg) with Terra S Weißburgunder QbA 2019. Further gold awards went to the Wein- und Sektgut Wilhelmshof (Pfalz) for Spätburgunder Im Sonnenschein Alte Reben Wilhelm Spätlese dry 2018 and to the Weingut Fritz Allendorf (Rheingau) for Quercus 2016.
