Mundus Vini Nordic: The First Scandinavian Award for German Wines

In order to support this positive export-development of German wines and to further promote the "German Wine" brand abroad, the German wine publishing house Meininger is organizing the first ever wine competition Mundus Vini Nordic in cooperation with the German Wine Institute.

Every year, more than 10,000 wines enter the Mundus Vini competition held in Germany, and for the first ever Nordic edition, the organizers hope for more than 500 wines to be tasted and judged.

The "Nordic palate" loves German wines

The competition focuses exclusively on German wine, but almost all the judges will be wine specialists from Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway. The aim is to highlight outstanding wines in eleven categories which are perfectly adapted to the taste and expectations of the "Nordic palate". In addition, the competion will serve a s perfect platform for wine producers who want to export and establish their products in Scandinavia.

In mid-June 2019, a select jury of about 40 wine experts from the Scandinavian will be invited  to taste the wines in the iconic Skuespilhuset in Copenhagen. In September, the winners of each category will be published and will present their wines in an event in Copenhagen.

Notes to the editor: After the US, Scandinavia is the second most important export market for German wines. Compared to 2017, the value of German wine exports increased in 2018 in all four countries: +5.8% in Norway, +4.7% in Sweden, +6.3 % in Finland and +17.9% in Denmark.
