"Summer of Riesling 2022" kicks off in China

Summer of Riesling (a.k.a Riesling Weeks) is the biggest consumer marketing campaign organized by Wines of Germany China. This year, Chef Stefan Stiller, owner of Michelin three-star restaurant Taian Table Shanghai, and Michelin two-star restaurant Taian Table Guangzhou, is endorsing German wine to all the wine lovers in China by receiving an exclusive interview from Ganlan Restaurant Press Media.


Summer of Riesling (a.k.a Riesling Weeks) is the biggest consumer marketing campaign organized by Wines of Germany China. In close cooperation with restaurants, wine bars, offline and online retailers and importers nationwide, the campaign aims to present the diversity, high quality and food-pairing capability of German wines, especially Riesling during summer period. During July and August this year, consumer can enjoy a wide variety of German wine promotion at over 160 restaurants and wine bars in 32 cities, and over 200 retail and online wine retailers in mainland China, with exclusive complimentary gifts sponsored by Wines of Germany China. In addition, Summer of Riesling consumer parties are organized in major cities around China, such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Jinan and Xiamen, bringing wine lovers a lineup of German wine parties.  
 

This year, Chef Stefan Stiller, owner of Michelin three-star restaurant Taian Table Shanghai , and Michelin two-star restaurant Taian Table Guangzhou, is endorsing German wine to all the wine lovers in China by receiving an exclusive interview from Ganlan Restaurant Press Media. Born and grown up in north of Germany and lived in wine region Pfalz for 7 years, Chef Stiller has a strong passion for German wines, especially Riesling since very early stage of his professional career. Living and working in China for more than 18 years, he was the Executive Chef of Pier One before opening his own Stiller's Restaurant & Cooking School in Shanghai in 2008 and continued venturing into restaurant business. In 2016, he opened Taian Table Shanghai and soon received Michelin one-star. It eventually gained three-stars in 2021. In 2021, he opened Taian Table in Guangzhou and received Michelin two-stars the same year. 

Taian Table serves 10 or 12 course menues featuring 8 dishes that change entirely every 6-8 weeks. Diners then choose the rest from classics or specials menu. With counter seats enclosing an island where the chefs cook, guest gets to witness the birth of each course up close. The food is well-executed, sophisticated and original. In Taian Table, there is an extensive German wine list of 40 wines from different regions in Germany and a permanent premium German wine pairing menu that changes according to the degustation dishes.
