In 2016 the German Wine Institute (DWI) issued 50 awards for outstanding vinotheques from the 13 German wine growing regions. They were selected according to strict quality criteria from around 200 applications by a specialist jury.
"With the 'Awards for Outstanding Vinotheques', we want to show wine-loving consumers where you can taste wine directly from the producer in a stylish atmosphere and with a high level of service, thereby creating additional incentives for visiting the German wine regions," explained DWI Managing Director Monika Reule as part of the award ceremony in Ingelheim. In addition to attractive architecture and interior design, the jury also assessed aspects such as regular opening times, seating, product presentation, further information about the region, vineyard tours, etc. In addition, the professional competence and the foreign language skills of the employees represented a further selection criterion.
