On the initiative of the German Wine Institute (DWI), the eighth nationwide Riesling Lounge was opened on December 18, 2015 in the "Weinzentrale" in Dresden, the first in Saxony.
In his wine center, owner and sommelier Jens Pietzonka combines a wide selection of around 300 high-quality wines from the German winegrowing regions with campaigns such as “I can do everything by the glass”, “Magnum bottle Tuesday” or the “Remaining booze Friday.”
“In this way, I share my own wine experiences with my guests and make the wine world a little more relaxed. I am honored to be able to operate as the official Riesling Lounge,”said Pietzonka.
With its Riesling Lounge Initiative, the DWI wants to introduce people to the wines from German cellars in a modern, uncomplicated way. "We are delighted to have found a competent partner in Jens Pietzonka, who is implementing this concept in his wine center in an exemplary manner," emphasized DWI press spokesman Ernst Büscher during the official opening event.
Riesling lounges initiated by DWI already exist in Berlin, Frankfurt, Gießen, Hamburg, Hanover, Mainz and Rostock, Büscher explained. In addition, the DWI is seeing increasing interest in the establishment of these flagship locations from various other German and international cities.
