The Riesling Lounge Frankfurt has been in the Zarges Restaurant in Frankfurt's famous Fressgass' since October 2012. The lounge stocks over 400 hand-picked wines from the German winegrowing regions ready for guests. All wines can be conveniently selected using an iPad or smartphone, which functions as an interactive wine list in the Zarges restaurant. The app updates the available wines and vintages in real time and can be called up anywhere with the "Zarges App".
For the siblings Birgit and Hans-Peter Zarges, their restaurant does not simply enter into a partnership with German Riesling but a perfect symbiosis: “The exclusively designed lounge is suitable as an intimate refuge of leisure and contemplation or as a perfect place for excessive festivities. Hessen's first Riesling Lounge is a multifunctional oasis to adequately honor the king of white wines.”
In order to be able to provide the appropriate setting for the Riesling Lounge, the well-known Parisian designer Jacques Garcia, who designed the “Hotel Costes” in Paris among other venues, was commissioned to design the rooms. The lounge offers enough space for up to 46 guests.
The exceptional quality of the food and beverage offering in the Zarges has been recognized by top restaurant guides for years. For a long time, Zarges was the only restaurant in Frankfurt to be awarded the "BIB Gourmand" for outstanding cuisine and The Grape for one of the best wine lists in Germany by the "Guide Rouge", Germany’s Michelin guide.
Under the direction of restaurant manager and sommelier Bjoern Zimmer, monthly wine salons with German vintners are presented in the Riesling Lounge. On these evenings, the winemakers are personally present and, in dialogue with sommelier Bjoern Zimmer, present their wines as an accompaniment to a curated 5-course menu.
