Restaurant "CarLo 615"
With a Riesling Lounge in the “CarLo 615” restaurant, Rostock now has an attractive meeting point for wine lovers. It was officially opened on July 24, 2014 on the initiative of the German Wine Institute. Located in the heart of Rostock's city harbor, the restaurant offers a wide range of over 80 local wines and sparkling wines in its special lounge menu. In addition to the Riesling that gives the lounge its name, other grape varieties from many German winegrowing regions are also available to guests at fair prices.
With its Riesling Lounge Initiative, DWI wants to introduce people from outside the wine regions in a contemporary way to the wines from German cellars. "We are delighted to have the CarLo 615 restaurant on board, such a well-known partner for our initiative in Rostock," emphasized DWI press spokesman Ernst Büscher during the opening event. Riesling lounges initiated by DWI already exist in Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt and Hanover. In addition, interest in other German and international cities has already been signaled.
For the chef and restaurant owner Carsten Loll, the Riesling Lounge offers a great opportunity to express his wine competence even more. “We are now offering an even larger stage to the wines from the German growing regions. They are currently very trendy and harmonize well thanks to their broad range of styles, so they also pair beautifully with our modern, regional cuisine, ”explains Loll.
The restaurant manager is looking forward to a good cooperation with the DWI and also wants to use the Riesling Lounge for wine events and Vintner evenings. Already at the opening, moderated by sommelier Frank Schollenberger, the Fürst Löwenstein winery, the Auggener Schäf wine cellar and the Enderle & Moll winery from Münchweier in Baden presented their excellent wines to the invited guests.
