This was announced by the German Wine Institute (DWI) at the start of the international wine trade fair Wine Paris & Vinexpo, where German producers will be exhibiting from the 12th to 14th of February with a record number of 46 companies at the joint stand of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) (Hall 5/2 G 069/09).

According to the sales figures of the Norwegian monopoly "Vinmopolet" for 2023, Germany was able to strengthen its market leadership in the white wine sector with an increase in sales of 1%. Rosé wine sales developed particularly positively, increasing by around 50%. This puts German rosés in fourth place among Norwegians' favorite rosé origins. In the red wine segment, wines from Germany bucked the trend. Their sales grew by 33%, whereas the Norwegian red wine market as a whole, shrank by 5%. German sparkling wines also saw an increase in popularity in Norway last year with an increase in sales of 7%.

DWI Marketing Director Steffen Schindler was very pleased with the development in the second most important export market for German wines and emphasised: "In terms of value, we export more wine to the Scandinavian countries than to our most important foreign market, the USA. We are therefore particularly looking forward to welcoming trade visitors from Northern Europe here in Paris."

Exciting wine collections and presentations await guests at the joint German stand. In addition to the German flagship grape varieties Riesling and Pinot Noir, the range also includes white Burgundy varieties and regional specialities such as Silvaner and Scheurebe. In line with current wine trends, PIWI grape varieties and non-alcoholic and low-alcohol wines will also be showcased.
