The hike to the Best Vineyard View in Baden for 2012 takes you along the Weinkundeweg wine trail, through Spätburgunder vines to the Lerchenberg memorial, which provides sweeping panoramic views of the glittering Lake Constance and its Mainau Island, the city of Konstanz, and the mountains of Austria and Switzerland.

The vista continues over the Meersburger Lerchenberg and Meersburger Bengel vineyards to Lake Überlingen, and beyond to the two magnificent buildings perched above Meersburg harbor: the pink building of the former seminary, which today houses the Droste Hülshoff grammar school, and the yellow building of the Staatsweingut Meersburg winery. Hike back towards Meersburg along the lakeside path.

In the shade of the leafy trees which intermittently reveal views of the lake, the trail heads along the embankment slope under the vineyard. Along the way, the idyllic beer garden of the Haltnau guesthouse, located right on the lake, is the perfect place for a breather and refreshments. Then the route continues onward past the yacht harbor and thermal springs until you arrive back at Meersburg.
