The 400-step Jacob’s Ladder passes through the hillside wineries on Besigheim’s Niedernberg. The climb was rewarded by Wines of Germany with the label of Best Vineyard View in the Württemberg Region for 2012.

High above the picturesque wine-growing town at the confluence of the Neckar and Enz rivers, the view to the right takes in the Enz Valley with its steep terraced vineyards in the south, the Niedernberg in the west, and Enzhälde in the east.

On a clear day, Stuttgart’s TV tower can be seen on the horizon. Looking straight ahead, eastward, is the sprawling Neckar Valley with the Hessigheimer Felsengärten nature reserve.

On the left, facing north, the lovely views down the Neckar River Valley encompass a number of other terraced vineyards.
